NOTORIOUS B.I.G. - - Shot to death
These people all have two things in common: they are all part of the R&B/Hip-Hop game, and they are all dead.
I name this page:
PLAYING THE DEADLY GAME, OR PLAYED TO DEATH?
So, the news and everyone... they are ALL telling me that its tragic to see young African Americans get shot outside or inside their studios. I'm here to tell you a few things, namely, that the media and the government don't care at all for the African Americans, and that all these people were killed for a reason. What reason?
Today we find that, rather than alternative music, rather than jazz music, rather than Schubert and Wagner, hip hop has become the new voice for rebellion.
So, how does the government react? Easy: they kill everyone who starts to get too famous.
What's the catch? You only get killed if you're a minority!
I think Rage Against the Machine says
it best:
You know they murdered X, and tried to blame it on Islam!
They turned the power to the have-nots... and then came the shot!
Yes, what I am saying to all you wanna-be white boy mother fuckers is that the government wants you to listen to Britney Spears, Madonna, and Janet Jackson.
They want you to be a teeny bopping, collar popping, Abercrombie wearing silly fuckwad!
Eminem claims that Bush is false, that Osama is false, and that we are all getting the bend-over. Jadakiss claims that Bush knocked down the Twin Towers. Xzibit's new CD has a remix of Bush's monologues, claiming that he is trying his hardest to destroy America. There is not a better time or climate for rebellious music, and the genre that has been chosen to lead it is Hip Hop.
So, as long Hip Hop remains the rebellious music it is, we are going to lose our heroes to the struggle against the Man. Stick with your Jojo, your Dave Matthews' love songs, because I, for one, raise my glass and my 40oz to these heroes of our time, the true warriors. Rest in Peace brothers!
